Question Life after 20

First of all, I really enjoyed myself this past weekend. I was completely surprised how well polished this game is and there???s little doubt in my mind that it???s ready for release.

Having said that, I???m not all that fond of PvP. So what I was hoping to gauge is what the game is like for Non-PvP players after reaching the level cap. Will there be a huge world to continue to explore? Will you continue to advance your character via new skills and items? Are there plenty of quests left to do and if so are they similar to those pre-20 or are they more epic in nature?

Any insight would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

I've already read that and was hoping to get a discussion more on what the game is like after 20 or Non-PvP players as opposed to whether or not the level 20 cap is a good thing. There were some mentioning of what to expect but most of it was in regards to PvP and not PvE.

Hey Flordia, im just like you. Honestly, I dont know what to expect, but the world is huge, and it'll take me a LONG time to explore. Gettin through a mission like the Great Northen Wall takes 1-2 hours, so if you put that with the rest of the map, it'll take a few days to run across the world, not to mention explore all the caves and towns and whatnot. While it may only entertain me for a week or 2, theres so much variety in the areas, I greatly look forward to just killing random mobs throughout the world and collecting items.

From what I can tell, the missions have a high replay value (Theres 25 due for release, I think) and im somewhat sure that the chapters that are supposedly big as the original game (Yeah right) will expand upon the current areas and missions and items, considerin its hard to expand on PVP, what can they do?

it has been mentioned that there is a lot of post-ascension content that we have not yet seen. fact of the matter is that we have no idea what is in store. they made it easy to max your level for a reason. it is obvious that the endgame is geared towards PvP. i am in the same boat as you as i prefer PvE aspects, but it seems that there are a few things to keep us going including:
missions balanced for teams of 6+ lvl 20 players
rerolling secondary professions
aquiring more skill points/skills

what I read/heard is that the challenge is always harder and harder, meaning that you have become good to get further

and the map is very huge, when I played for three full days I only managed to do 2 missions and not even all the quests that were around there. I know I'm going to have a lot of fun but I think I'm going to like PvP too (forgot to test it during the beta I participated )

I am a 100 % PVE player with o interest in PVP

having looked at the game i have no reservations about buying it

from GW

there are 25 missions (non pvp) to start
there are 60-70 explorable areas (non pvp, not small) to start with additional content to be added by streaming in

edit

statement from GW that a MAJORITY of skills will be available from quests indicates a high number of quests as well

fron GW

Guild Wars, in contrast, is based around your skill as a player. Our maximum level is twenty and you hit that very quickly, after about 20-30 hours of play. ,We call that 'The Point of Ascension'. Almost all of the content in the game and in the future Chapters is only available to Ascended characters, which means we don't have to worry about providing different levels of content. All the good stuff will be available to everyone. It's not our intent to force people onto the levelling up treadmill, so the level cap in Guild Wars is almost meaningless.

I to am 100% PVE. I have no doubt this game will keep PVE players going for a long long time, with the extra content added every 6 months or so. The world is huge, and there will be alot to do.

I really enjoyed the last BWE, was my first, but had a blast. Did not level to fast, only got to lvl 10, but was awesome. Soloing everything. That mission where you lose the wall, and need to force back the charr, what an awesome mission.

Thank you to everyone for the responses. I will be going out later this afternoon to place an additional 2 pre-orders for 2 friends that played the beta weekend with me and had the same concerns. We are all convinced that the game will be worth the money regardless.

At any rate, thanks again.

There are quite a few places in missions where you have to avoid a huge group of monsters to complete the mission. You can always go back to these missions at higher levels and take on those big groups that you had to avoid earlier. That on top of the majority of the game being built around your character being level 20. For PVE folks it should be fun, having the option to run 4 different PVE characters with drastically different skills even adds more gametime, and each expansion promises plenty more PVE content and a furthering of the storyline.
